  1. MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY IN GRAPHIC DESIGN (WEEKENDS)

PROGRAMME DURATION

The M-Tech in Graphic Design shall be for two (2) years.

SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants with the following certificates are eligible to apply:

  • Applicants with Bachelor of Technology (B-TECH) in Printing, Graphic Design or related Visual/Creative Art certificates, must possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • Bachelor of Art (BA) Publishing Studies (Printing or Design and illustration option, with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division).
  • BA Communication Design/BFA/BA Graphic Design with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • Holders of equivalent first degree qualifications in related Visual/Creative Art from recognized academic or professional institutions in and or outside Ghana.
  • Working experience will be an added advantage.

 

  1. MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY IN TEXTILES (WEEKENDS)

PROGRAMME DURATION

The M-Tech in Textiles shall be for two (2) years.

SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Technology (B-TECH) in Industrial Arts (Textiles Option) from an accredited tertiary institution must possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division).
  • Bachelor of Technology (B-TECH) in Fashion Design applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • Holders of equivalent first degree qualifications in related Visual/Creative Art from a recognized academic or professional institution. Working experience will be an added advantage.

HND/DIPLOMA HOLDERS

  1. Bachelor of Technology in Graphic Design (Options: Multimedia, Advertising, Printing and Animation: Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificate in Graphic Design from any recognized University/Polytechnic. Candidates with equivalent qualifications/certificates can seek clarification from the Admissions Office. Working experience will be an added advantage.

-        Holders of any other Commercial Art option (Sculpture, Ceramics and Painting) with HND 2nd Class Upper Division or better must pass a selection interview. Those with HND 2nd Class Lower Division must pass written examination and selection interview.

  1.   • ·SSSCE Candidates: Applicants must have six (6) passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and, at least, three (3) elective passes (Ceramics, Graphic Design, Bead Making, Basketry, Leatherworks, Clothing & Textiles, Sculpture, Picture Making, Jewelry, Woodwork, Metalwork and General Knowledge in Art) relevant to applicant’s area of specialization.
  • ·WASSCE Candidates: Applicants must have six (6) passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes (Ceramics, Graphic Design, Bead Making, Basketry, Leatherworks, Clothing & Textiles, Sculpture, Picture Making, Jewelry, Woodwork, Metalwork and General Knowledge in Art) relevant to the area of specialization.

(ii)    ADVANCE PAINTING AND DECORATION CERTIFICATE APPLICANTS

  • Applicants with Advanced P&D with Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE certificate with passes in English Language and Mathematics can apply for any of the HND programmes under FAAT.
  • INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE IN PAINTING AND DECORATION (P&D)

Intermediate P&D Certificate holders with passes in English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) Arts electives with aggregate not exceeding 28 can also apply for any of the HND programmes.

  • NABPTEX CERTIFICATE II

NABPTEX Certificate II applicants with passes in English Language and Mathematics can apply for any of the HND programmes under FAAT

(v)    GCE ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS

Applicants must have five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics and any subject plus three (3) ‘A’ Level passes are eligible to apply.

  • SSSCE/WASSCE applicants must have Four (4) passes (A1-E8) in English Language, Mathematics and two electives in relevant areas of specialization OR

  1. Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology
  • A pass or better in Intermediate dressmaking/fashion Certificate Examination.
  • A pass in Two (2) Core and Two (2) elective in SSSCE/WASSCE or its equivalent.
  • A pass in certificate course of NVTI or its equivalence in addition to a pass in BECE with one year working experience.
  • A recognized equivalence in allied subjects and qualifications as stated above.
  1. Diploma in Sculpture Technology
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes compromising three (3) core subjects including English and Mathematics plus Two (2) Elective subjects.
  • Four (4) GCE ‘O’ Level including English and Mathematics.
  • A pass in English and Mathematics plus Intermediate Technician Part 1 in (Block Work, Woodwork, Metal Fabrication, Leatherwork).
  • A mature applicant not below 25 years must provide documentary evidence of work experience and pass entrance examination.

4.   Diploma in Art and Design

  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes comprising three (3) core subjects including English and Mathematics plus any Two (2) of these Elective subjects ( Ceramics, Graphic Design, Bead making, Basketry, Leatherworks, Clothing and Textiles, Sculpture, Picture making, Jewelry,  Woodwork, Metalwork and General Knowledge in Art)
  • Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level including English and Mathematics.

  • Laboratory Technician Certificate applicants seeking admission to pursue HND Science Laboratory Technology must pass a written entrance examination in English Language and Mathematics and must pass an interview to be conducted by the University. -        HND Tourism Management/ HND Hospitality Management graduates who wish to be Tour Guide are encouraged to apply.

-        Practicing event Tour Guides who do not have the required certificate are also encouraged to apply.

  • Certificates in Event Management and Catering

-         Applicants who possess SSSCE, WASSCE, ‘O’ Level and professionals in related fields can apply.   Applicants with NVTI Grade I and II and, at least, one year relevant practical experience are also eligible to apply.

-        HND Tourism Management/ HND Hospitality Management graduates who wish to be event managers/organizers are encouraged to apply.

-        Practicing event managers/organizers who do not have the required certificate are also encouraged to apply.

  • Certificate in Information Technology/Networking/Software Engineering

-        BECE Applicants

Passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science (minimum of grade 6) plus passes in

-      ICAG, ACCA, CIMA: Applicants with passes in at least level 2 of ICAG, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent are also eligible to apply.

  • Applicants must possess a DBS Certificate and five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes OR four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics.

Applicants must have three passes in RSA III plus any of the following:

SIX MONTHS BRIDGING COURSE FOR TECHNICIAN III GRADUATES WEEKENDS ONLY 

  • Applicants with Technician III certificate in all the TVET programmes run in the Faculty of Engineering (Electrical Engineering Technician (EET III), Motor Vehicle Technician (MVT III) Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET III) and Welding Advanced are eligible to apply for the bridge course. Successful candidate after completing the 6 months course will be automatically enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) degree programme in August 2018.

  • Applicants with passes in Technician EET I & II, MET III & III, CTC II & III and MVT II & III Certificates with at least passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science are also eligible to apply in their respective fields.

SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants seeking admission to Diploma in Civil Engineering must have a minimum of Six (6) SSSCE/WASSCE passes, comprising two core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science AND three relevant elective subjects OR

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics & Science and three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level ORincluding Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Candidate with two (2) Strong Passes, a minimum grade C in Mathematics and Physics at GCE ‘A’ level may be considered in lieu of the three.

-        Construction Technician Certificate (CTC2/3): Applicants must have in addition to CTC 2/3, GCE ‘O’ level passes in English and Additional Mathematics or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in English Language and Elective Mathematics or General Course in Construction (GCC) Four (4) credit passes.

-        Advanced Craft Certificate in Blockwork & Concreting

Applicants must have, in addition to Advanced Craft Certificate in Blockwork and Concreting, a minimum of Three (3) SSSCE/WASSCE passes, including English Language, Elective Mathematics and Elective Physics OR Three (3) GCE ‘O’ level passes English Language, Additional Mathematics and Physics.

-        Construction Technician Part 2 (New Scheme): Applicants must have in addition to Construction Technician Part 2 (Scheme), a minimum of Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes in English Language, Mathematics and Elective Mathematics and any of the following Physics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Technical Drawing OR Four (4) GCE ‘O’ level passes in English and Additional Mathematics, Physics or Ordinary Technician Diploma (OTD) IN Civil Engineering.

1.     Electrical Engineering Technician (EET I )

Applicants must have four (4) passes in General Engineering Examination: Electrical Installation Work Certificate. Telecommunication Technician Part II, OR five GCE ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity or Basic Electronics OR four (4) passes in (including Mathematics and English Language) in the SSSCE or WASSCE examination.

2.     Motor Vehicle Technician (MVT I)

Applicants must have passes in all three (3) components in Intermediate Automobile Engineering or passes in four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics or Elective Mathematics AND any two relevant elective subjects or any recognized professional certificate.

 

3.   Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET I)

Applicants must have passes in all (3) components in Intermediate Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Craft Practices), or passes in four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE including English and Mathematics or Elective Mathematics, or any two (2) passes in relevant elective subjects.

 

4.   EET II, MET II and MVT II

Applicant(s) must have EET I, MET I and MVT I in relevant areas of specialization.

SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

HND/DIPLOMA HOLDERS

  • Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificate in Building Technology from any recognized University/Polytechnic. Candidates with equivalent qualifications/certificates can seek clarification from the Admissions Office. Working experience will be an added advantage.
  • CTC Part II (old Scheme holders) and CTC Part III holders will go through a bridging programme for one semester before being enrolled in the B-Tech.

 

SIX MONTHS BRIDGING COURSE FOR TECHNICIAN II & III GRADUATES WEEKENDS ONLY 

  • Applicants with CTC Part II (old Scheme holders) and CTC Part III holders are eligible to apply for the bridge course. Successful candidate after completing the 6 months course will be automatically enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) degree programme in August 2018.

(i)     SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

  • SSSCE Candidates: Applicants must have obtained six (6) passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and, at least, three (3) elective passes in Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Woodwork, Technical Drawing or Agricultural Science, History, Geography, Economics, Government, Commerce and Literature in English relevant to their area of specialization.
  • WASSCE Candidates: Applicants must have obtained six (6) passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of their passes relevant to the area of specialization.

(ii)        GCE ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS

Applicants must have five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus two (2) passes in Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Woodwork, Technical Drawing or Agricultural Science, History, Geography, Economics, Government, Commerce and Literature in English.

(ii)            TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE APPLICANTS

-        CTC I applicants must have five (5) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics.

-        Applicants with Intermediate Craftsmanship and Advanced Certificate in Wood plus English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science can apply for the HND Interior Design & Technology programme.

-        Applicants with Diploma in Draughtsmanship English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science can apply for the HND Construction Engineering & Management programme.

-        Technical Training Institutes applicants with passes in Carpentry & Joinery (C&J), Wood Technology, Intermediate Craftmanship plus English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science.

ACCESS PROGRAMME FOR TECHNICAL/VOCATIONAL APPLICANTS

The above-named programme has been designed to provide opportunity to students with Technical/Vocational and science educational background to pursue a one-year Access Course in English Language, Mathematics and Science.

SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants should possess a minimum qualification of G.E.S. Technical Exams Unit’s Certificate /Intermediate or its equivalent.
  • SSSCE/WASSCE Science students with passes are eligible to apply.

NOTE: Successful candidates after the Access Programmes can apply for any of the HND programmes offered in the University.

 

MATURE APPLICANTS

Mature applicants into all HND programmes must satisfy the following:

  • Candidates must be 25 years of age at the time of the submission of the application form.
    • Candidates must have, at least, four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes or four (4) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes, including English Language and Mathematics, plus experience in relevant area of study.
    • All mature applicants in addition must pass a written examination in the relevant subject area and an interview session.

 

Closing date for MATURE APPLICANTS is FRIDAY, 11TH MAY, 2018.

 

SPECIAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

  • Applicants with Technician I or II certificates who seek to enroll with the Faculty of Engineering but are without English Language and Mathematics must also pass English Language and Mathematics Examinations to be administered by the University before gaining admission.
  • Stenography and Senior Stenography holders without English Language and Mathematics must also pass English Language and Mathematics Examinations to be administered by the University before gaining admission.
  • General Business Certificate (GBC) holders without English Language and Mathematics must also pass English Language and Mathematics Examinations to be administered by the University before gaining admission.
  • All special entrance applicants in addition must pass a written examination in the relevant subject area and an interview session.

 

MATURE CANDIDATES ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Mature and Special applicants entrance examinations and interview will be held on MONDAY, 4TH JUNE, 2018 at 8.00 a.m. at Takoradi Technical University main campus. Please come along with birth certificates.

NOTE:  All mature and special applicants will be expected to pay an additional amount of GHc80.00 on or before the day of the entrance examination at the University Campus. The GHc80.00 will cover the cost of the entrance examinations.

In all cases, candidates will be expected to meet Faculty/Departmental requirements.
